Roland Otto Schneider Obituary

Winlock, WA - Roland Otto Schneider was born June 4th, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, IA to Allen and Elda Schneider. Roland graduated from Bennett High School in the class of 1970. Born into a farming family, the love of the rolling Iowa corn fields never left him, no matter where life took him. In 1973 Roland, while working at Oscar Meyer in Davenport, IA began attending a Bible study and the Bible Missionary Church in East Moline, IL. There, under the ministry of Rev. Rodger Moyer, he was genuinely converted and answered the call to the ministry. Afterward, he met the love of his life, Angela Mingee and they were married in Muscatine, IA on August 9th, 1975.

In pursuit of his call to preach the Gospel, Roland enrolled in Bible Missionary Institute in Rock Island, IL and graduated from that same school in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in theology. He pastored his first church in Wadena, Minnesota until 1983 when he accepted the call to another church in Grand Junction Colorado. Roland shepherded that congregation until June of 1987 when he answered the call to pastor in Clinton, IA. For thirty-seven years he faithfully ministered in that community until the death of his beloved wife in November of 2024. Roland Schneider was one of the longest serving elders on the Iowa-Illinois District of the Bible Missionary Church. He served as a member of the Orders and Relations Board and the District Advisory board for many years. After the death of his wife, Roland moved to Winlock, WA with his son and family. He spent the last year and a half bravely fighting against the cancer that was to eventually take him. He made his triumphal entry into the gates of heaven Thursday afternoon, May 28th 2026.

Roland is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 49 years. He is survived by his four siblings, Rodney (Sharon), Raldo (Marcy), Renee (Randy), and Ricky, his two sons Aaron (Katie) of Mesa, AZ and Darrin (Jessica) of Winlock, WA. Roland was blessed with five grandchildren, Brianna, Lauren, Seth, Trent, and Krysten who all loved "Poppy", as he was affectionately called. Our dear father and grandfather is in heaven, and though we grieve we cannot help but be happy for him for his suffering is finally over. Roland has laid down his cross and picked up a crown.

A visitation will start at noon at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence, Iowa on June 10th with the service starting at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Rodger L. Moyer will be officiating. Interment will follow at Inland Cemetery in Bennett, IA.
