Morrison, Illinois - ROLAND D. SWANSON, 93, of Morrison, Illinois, died Friday, January 30, 2026, at his home.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma- Renkes Funeral Home. His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma- Renkes Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Pitts, pastor of First Methodist Church in Clinton, Iowa, officiating. Interment will be at Leon Cemetery in Prophetstown, Illinois. A memorial has been established to King's Kloset in Erie, Illinois.

Roland was born on December 12, 1932, at home in Prophetstown, Illinois, to Conrad "Pete" and Edith (Ross) Swanson. He was a 1950 graduate of Fulton High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On May 18, 1958, he married Anne Eninger in Clinton, Iowa. They shared their lives for over 17 years before her passing on February 17, 1976. Roland worked at General Electric in Morrison for more than 30 years before retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, tackling the daily puzzles in the newspaper, and traveling whenever the opportunity arose. He was an avid sports fan, faithfully cheering on the Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox, and Boise State Broncos. Above all else, Roland's greatest joy in life was time spent with his grandchildren, whom he loved deeply.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Swanson-DeSpain of Morrison, Illinois, and Hope MacLennan of Clinton, Iowa; one son, Steven Swanson of Morrison, Illinois; three grandchildren, Faith (Dylon) White, Alex MacLennan and Xaverri MacLennan; two great-grandchildren, Ansley and Roland MacLennan; one brother, William (Deb) Swanson of Morrison, Illinois; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anne; one sister in infancy, Elsie Swanson; four brothers, John, Howard, David and Leland Swanson; one son-in-law, Mike DeSpain.
