Peoria, IL - Ruth N. Johnson age 99 of Peoria, IL formerly of Camanche, IA passed away Wednesday Feb. 4, 2026 at Bickford Assisted Living of Peoria, IL. Funeral service to be held 2:00 PM Saturday Feb. 21st at St. John Lutheran Church, Clinton, IA. Visitation will be held Saturday 1:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Ruth was born on Nov. 7, 1926 in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Leonard and Lois (Gray) Davenport. She received her Bachelor Degree in Education from the University of Iowa in 1969. She was an Elementary School Teacher with the Camanche Community School District for over 23 years. She married Carl Johnson Sr. on March 2, 1952 in Oskaloosa, IA; he died Nov. 17, 2025. Ruth was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Gateway Genealogical Society, Camanche Historical Board, Camanche Educational Association, Church Library Helper for over 20 years, I.S.E.A., N.E.A., D.A.R., and the Daughters of Republic of Texas.

Ruth is survived by her four children, Carl Johnson, Jr. of Pekin, IL, Douglas (Roxanne) Johnson of Dubuque, IA, Phyllis Johnson of Iowa City, IA, and Patricia (Rob) Otero of Olympia, WA; 5 grandchildren, Hailie, Seth, Kate, Wyatt, and Derek; 2 great grandchildren, Oliver and Eleanor; and her former daughter-in-law, Patti Winston of Atascocita, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
