Verna Mae Horne Hodge, 90, of Valdosta, Georgia died on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Suwanee Valley Nursing Center following a period of declining health. She was born on August 19, 1934, in Sabula, Iowa to the late Ervin Paul and Adeline Cosman Harmsen. Mrs. Hodge was retired from the Hamilton County Health Department in Jasper, Florida as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Valdosta. Mrs. Hodge served on the Suwannee/Hamilton Vocational Tech School Advisory Board, was a member of the Women's Club of Jasper, and the Kiwanis Club of Jasper, and volunteered for the American Cancer Society.
A visitation for Verna Horne Hodge will be held on Friday, October 4, starting at 10 am at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Oakland Cemetery at 11 am.
