Virginia A. Jones age 89 of Clinton, IA passed away Saturday March 1, 2025 at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A graveside service will be held Wednesday 10:30 AM at Oakland Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com

Virginia was born on March 2, 1935 in Clinton, IA the daughter of John and Hazel (Scott) Peters. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1953. She married Robert Jones Sr. on Oct. 20, 1953 in Las Vegas, NV, he died in 2013. Virginia worked as an office manager at W.T. Grant Retail. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. She served on the Clinton City Council, while husband Robert served as Clinton Police Chief, and had run for the Iowa House of Representatives. She enjoyed cooking, horseback riding, reading, and music, especially the piano.

Virginia is survived by her three children, Robert F. Jones of Topeka, KS, Teresa (Steve) White and Patrick Jones both of Clinton, IA; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Peters of Osage Beach, MO; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter, Becky, grandson, Nicholas, two sisters, Donna and Betty, and two brothers, Richard and Jay.
